Tomokazu Komiya is an illustrator and painter from Japan, well known for his work on the Pokemon Company since 1998 creating art for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, as well as Pokémon Center merchandise such as art books and badge pins.
Famous for his colorful and deformed art-style that convey different moods and movement in his pieces. Inspired by primitivism, he takes stylistic elements from tribal cultures, prehistory and children’s art. The use of traditional mediums such as gouache and oil paintings differentiates his work from others. He has become one of the favorite illustrators from the company, working solely in traditional mediums to this day.
