PANCAKE: SOLD OUT

&& Gallery is thrilled to announce ‘SOLD OUT‘ our final exhibition for 2024, presented by the Contemporary Australian Art Collective, PANCAKE.

SOLD OUT features the work of seven extraordinary Australian artists curated by PANCAKE. This exhibition delves into the complex dynamics of the artist’s relationship with their audience, the art industry, & the ever-present tension between creativity & commerce. Through this exhibition, PANCAKE explores the conflict & interdependence between the artist & the market, ultimately asking: what does it mean to “sell out”?

ABOUT PANCAKE:

Founded in 2024, Pancake is a non-profit collective that collaborates with artists whose work bridges traditional & contemporary aesthetics. Drawing inspiration from Asian folk art, anime, manga, pop culture, & vibrant, playful aesthetics. Influenced in part by the Superflat movement popularized by Takashi Murakami, the collective aims to challenge traditional boundaries in art by blurring the lines between high & low culture, making art more accessible to a broader audience. Through curated exhibitions & events, PANCAKE seeks to elevate art forms that are often overlooked or misunderstood in Australia, offering a fresh perspective on contemporary creative practices.
